For our portfolios, we used different colours and ways to annotate our examples. In here, we see arrows, boxes, and circles in different colours. It is then explained in the text below as we see how the author found the 2 layouts easy and difficult.
Annotating helps our teachers understand what we are trying to explain to them and it is clearer and simple to read too.
Most of our music classmates use this method to explain their paragraph and use it in their portfolio entries.
In a paragraph, we use the PEEL format. It means Point, Explanation, Examples, Link.
We would use this format in most of our paragraphs and it helps us write and elaborate more in our justifications.
During our Instrumental Studies, known as IS, we reflect on our lessons and transfer it to our portfolios under IS Reflections.
We would type it on a Google site and explain about a piece we are working on which includes the composer, era, period and some information about the piece.
With scores of our piece, we would have 3 key points on what we want to work on our piece and what we can improve on. It helps me to understand my weakness and know where I can work on to practise.
During our research, we will then browse youtube videos and listen to different videos of others playing the piece.
Based on the youtube video, we will explain why we like the piece played by the performer and explain what they did well and what we can improve on.
We then end off with our goals. It is what we plan to achieve in the future and what we want to do. For example: Performing the piece during Lunch-Time Concert (LTC), or how long we plan to practise, or what piece we want to learn next.
