We are committed to providing the highest quality of education for all our young people while honouring the rights, outlined by the UNCRC, dignity and voice of each person to help develop their God given talents within an inclusive community of faith and learning.
Our Child Rights Group was established in 2017 with the aim of putting child rights at the heart of everything we do. Their first task was to work with staff and parents to develop our school charter of rights as well as our school values of Faith, Ambition, Integrity, Trust and Help. The group worked hard to create our charter of rights which linked these values to individual rights in the UNCRC. This charter is now proudly displayed in our Street area as well as every classroom and office.
We also worked to embed rights based lessons into our curriculum in subjects like Modern Studies, History, RE, PSE, English and more.
We continue to promote child rights through a variety of activities in the school, including our child rights week, anti-bullying week, charity work and more.
In 2022 we were awarded South Lanarkshire’s Making Rights Real Award, recognising the work we have done to promote and celebrate child rights.
In 2023 we were also awarded the Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award for showing that we are committed to child rights in our school. We are currently working towards our Silver Award.
