The meeting started with the official visit at the City of Łódź Office where the teachers were greeted by the deputy mayor who presented the city from the historical perspective stressing out the input of multicultural society into the development of the city.
Then, at our school, students presented the films about the important events from the history of their countries. The main topic of students’ works was the period of the Second World War. All the films showed how the events changed the society. During the break we could all see the exhibition of the pictures presenting the ceremonies or visits to the places commemorating important events from the past. We voted for the best 3 pictures. The winners were two photos taken by the Polish group and one from the Greek team.
After the meeting at school, we went with our guests, to Poznanski’s Palace, which houses the Museum of the city of Lodz. During the guided tour we learnt about the history of the city, found out about the Poznanski’s family. We also saw an exhibition about Jan Karski, Artur Rubinstein, Władysław Reymont and Julian Tuwim. After the lesson in the museum we went to the Old Cemetery in Ogrodowa Street, a vast necropolis of those of Catholic, Evangelical and Orthodox faiths. After the busy day we spent time in Manufaktura – revitalised former Isreael Poznanski’s factory complex.
