Gratitude

GRATITUDE...We show our gratitude and respect to everyone and everything around us: friends, family, teachers, facilities that make our lives easier. How come we don't forget to do this? Maybe because we are in contact with these things and people every day.

What about the people we don't 'see'? What about the people that stand aside or , better said, ...were left aside? THE ELDERLY ! Does it mean that just because they are no longer that active they no longer exist? Don't forget that everything you are today and everything you have today you owe to the elderly. Just the way your great grandchildren will owe everything to you. That's just the way the story goes...Historical past, cultural heritage, traditions, language are just some of the treasures the elderly have left us to cherish.

GRATITUDE towards the ELDERLY represents the next 'piece' towards solving our great 'puzzle': YOUTOPIA, our YoUtopian society. By involving our students in a series of volunteering activities with the elderly and by asking them to 'travel forth ' in time and picture themselves as the next older generation, we have succeeded in raising their awareness towards this issue and placing the elderly back where they belong : in the spotlight.
