ALISE

My impressions about this adventure started in Riga, I was leaving it very exited and a little bit scared. We lost one day from amazing Greece life, but we spent great night in Paris. When we finally got to Athenes, I remember that I didn't want say goodby to my Latvian friends and go somewhere with a strangers. When I first met my Greek family, I find out that they are so nice people, they were very kind and careful with me. Then I started feel good. I had chance to see lot of beautiful places, listen about history of Greece, visit museums and learn something new about their coulture. I really liked these days in Greece, I met new friends, I hope friends for a long time. I am glad that I had this oportunity to go to Greece, I think it is a big experiance and also adventure.

ALANS

My overall impression of the trip to Greece had the very positive memories. I was very surprised, because Greece is very different from Latvia. The main difference is that there in the night city becomes alive at the time when Latvia is already asleep. Even I was surprised by people and their behavior, they hug surprisingly friendly. All in all I enjoyed it and it was a good experience.

ANNA

This trip to Greece was the most exciting experience of my life, also the biggest adventure. I have learned so much from it. I loved living in the family I was in - they were so kind, nice and responsive. From what I saw and heard, greek people are very laid - back, friendly and they really love and enjoy living and I think other nations should learn that from them. Once again, I got to learn the history of Greece a little better than I had before and it still was very entertaining. I got to witness the breath taking beauty of nature - the big, rocky mountains, the amazing, blue sea with perfectly clear water and the broad amount of ancient buildings that seem to be so open yet full of secrets that they've collected through centuries. During the project, I made new friends who made this experience much more enjoyable and I hope to visit them again soon. I am beyond thankful to my school, the Comenius project and especially my English teacher for giving me the amazing opportunity to experience Greece and the memories made there I will definitely cherish for a lifetime.

The first thing that surprised me when I arrived in Greece was the big quantity of abandoned dogs, they were everywhere in the city and they followed us when we were walking in the street … The second thing is the pollution of the city, I could smell it ! I don't think that living in Aigaleo is very good for people who suffer lung problems.

Then, I was surprised by the toilets … No lock, I couldn't even find one toilet with a lock !

Finally, I want to talk about the Greek way of life : students leave school at 2pm and get back there at 4pm. Then, they finish school at 6pm and go to bed at 1am ! It's very different than our way of life. Moreover the Greek eat 4 meals a day … it's a lot!

Something I found strange when I was in Greece is that we were given water all the time. I think of public places. When we went to a restaurant or a bar, the people who are working there gave us water, first. And that, before we chose anything on the menu, and before we even started to eat. In France, if we want to drink water, we have to ask and we pay for bottles of water. Nobody in the restaurant will give us water if we don't ask. Another curiosity is the coldest temperature of the week: 26°C. In France the hottest temperature was only 23°C during the summer! I was very surprised of the temperature... When I came back in France, I had to wear a second jumper!

Antoine

When I went to Greece, I realized the weight of history. I knew that there were a lot of ruins but I could not imagine there were so many. Greece is really an archaelogicaltreasure. Greece is also a modern country and I was amazed that there is an underground in Aigaleo which is quite a small town (30 000 inhabitants).

I also enjoyed the landscapes and the kindness of Greek people.

Alicia

First of all, I really enjoyed this trip to Greece, the Greeks are very welcoming and friendly.I enjoyed meeting people of the project and we got on well.I was surprised by Greek habits : The Greeks eat later in the afternoon, around 3 or 4PM. They have a full lunch. Our lunch is at 12. Then we have dinner at 7PM. The Greeks go to bed very late in the evening and wake up early in the morning. In France, we wake up at 7 :30 and go to bed at 10PM maximum. Then life is cheaper than in France. Athens is a big city.

Thank you for your nice welcome !

FLAVIA:

I had a wonderful Greek experience. The city was beautiful and the people were very friendly and talkative. My hostess, Dina, behaved very nicely with me and I was welcomed by her and her family with warmth and happiness. After this experience we have become very good friends and we talk almost every day. We visited ancient historical places, met new people and had a lot of fun talking to them. Also, I learned some Greek words and in return we taught them some Romanian words.

This experience was something new and something that I would like to repeat. I keep in touch with most of the new friends and I am waiting for our Greek friends to come and visit our country someday in the future.

I’m really happy that I took part in this project and that I had this new experience.

RALUCA :

I have so many things to tell that I don't even know how I should start, but I will try. It was a beautiful and at the same time exhausting week in which I met a lot of people that I will remember all my life, I lived so many new experiences. Eleni, thank you because you received me in your house and family, Dina, Spyros, I am glad because I met you . I hope that we will see again one day.

Greece meant to me more than a simple trip to another country , it meant a new start for my life, it changed me for the better, I learnt new things, I met so many teenagers from so many countries, I made friends with them. This project also gave me the chance to learn more about how not to judge people based on their appearance.

ANDREEA :

I never thought I could get so close to someone I had just met,but everything is possible!Through this project, not only I gained experience, but I won the most important thing and that`s the friendship of the people involved in project. The topic of this meeting was also very interesting as well as the materials presented by all the countries . During these five days spent in Greece I met amazing people who tried everything to make us feel as we were home, they gave me the advice that I should be more self-confident because this is very important.

We visited Athens, and this city, besides the wonderful people,it has impressive historical places, from which you can`t take your eyes off because of its architecture.

In conclusion, for me it was a beautiful experience, because I met new people with whom we made a beautiful bond from the begginig and I don`t want lose it.

From 22nd September I visited Greece, a beautiful country. I travelled there with my three schoolmates and our teachers of English.

We were living for 4 days in a families of the pupils that were in the project of Comenius too, I stayed at Elijah Konditis family, with his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

We saw a lot of interesting monuments, historical places like an oracle in Delphy, or the beautiful ancient Acropolis and old archeological excavations.

We tasted a lot of Greek specialities too, like Souflaki, the typical Greek food, or Ouzo – the typical Greek alcoholic (and terrible) drink.

And we met a lot of great and amazing friends from the whole Europe! It was an amazing experience, If it was possible, I would stay there for a few months! And as I have promised to my Greek friends, I will visit them in summer.

What has surprised me in Greece?

    • The Greeks mostly drink water, only sometimes mineral water or juice.

    • They do not use zebra crossings.

    • They wear shoes at home

    • Their typical food is Souvlaki

    • Their food is very spicy

    • Their typical alcoholic drink is Uozo, (I´ve tasted it).

    • They don´t pay attention at time and then they must hurry everywhere

This experience in Greece taught me above all that I can have friends not only in Monopoli but also in other countries. And even if my partner and I are not of the same age (I am 13 and she is 17), we became friends, we were like sisters. And not only with her….with all the group!

We were like a big family…that was the real journey!

REBECCA SANCIO

The journey was very beautiful. I met so many new, nice people. Even if it was a school experience, for me it was like a holiday. My partner, Eirini, is very nice and she looked after me all the time. Greece is beautiful. The organization was very friendly and welcoming. Food was strange but I tried everything. The students, the teachers were all very friendly and eager to meet our requests. There was no problem of communication cbetween eirini and me. I am sure that we will meet again soon because we spent beautiful days together and we had a very good time. It’s been an unforgettable experience!

CARLA MUOLO

I really loved the experience in Greece. I met my friend again and I was really well with her and her family. I thought I would have missed my family and instead… It was beautiful to fly for the first time! Athens is a beautiful, big city. It was very easy to communicate in English. I also learnt some words in Greek! When my partner came to Italy, it was difficult to say goodbye, but now it’s been far more difficult because I know I won’t see her for a long time.

GABRIELLA LONGO

I really liked this experience because I had the opportunity to know different cultures and countries. I’ve tested my knowledge of English and learnt some Greek words. I’ve known Greek history and civilization. It’s a beautiful country, full of richness.

It was my first visit to Greece. Athens is a beautiful city where I saw a lot of historical monuments. I was had opportunity to see the Acropolis and the ruins of Delphi- what has always been my dream.

Greeks are fantastic and very sociable people. They welcomed us very heartily. We experienced the Greek culture and its traditional dishes that were very delicious. This trip was an amazing adventure for me which I will remember forever.

Paulina Olczyk

This trip was my first travel to Greece and I fell in love with this amazing country. Everywhere there are awsome views. The Acropolis is the most beautiful place for me. Poeople from Greece are very friendly and social. I felt at home. Greek dishes are delicious and are very different from Polish dishes. I met a lot of wonderful people. I can't wait to meet again.

Karolina Trzcinka

This trip has been very interesting experience. Although I was scared, I was able to communicate with foreigners. With these exercises in language I know on what I have to work . In Greece I have met a lot of amazing people and I hope we will communicate in the future. The Greeks are very friendly and just wonderful. In my “Greek family”, I felt like in my own family. People from other countries also were great. I could talk to them about everything. I got to know a new culture and customs. Greece is a beautiful country with many surprises. Athens is an amazing city with lots of monuments. The theme of our trip was discrimination in terms of appearance. I changed my point of view on this problem. I will remember this trip for a lifetime.

Patrycja Kujawa

The trip to Greece was an amazing experience for me. I've never done so much progress in English. I spoke almost like a native Briton! To be honest I was afraid of this exchange, before traveling to Athens, I did not sleep all night. After arrival it turned out that my fears were completely unfounded, the people participating in the program, they were so wonderful that I felt like I knew them for years, and not five days. The place that I remember most is the Acropolis Museum, which is in my opinion the perfect combination of Modern Art (the architectural style of the building) and ancient (museum objects). It was great to experience the atmosphere of the ancient Parthenon. I am in love with Greece and I want to be back there someday.
