Gerald Mariner has replaced Alan Griffiths as Chairman of the Congress Committee.

Colin Searle has also replaced Ian Crane as Secretary of the Congress Committee.

John Davies has replaced Hugh Feldman as Chairman of the Stamp Active Network (formerly the National Youth Stamp Group).

UPDATES OF PUBLICATIONS

The 2009 edition of Philatelic Lecturers and Displays will be distributed in January. The ABPS Handbook and Directory will in future be issued as two separate volumes. The 2009 ABPS Handbook will be published in the early Spring and the 2009 ABPS Directory, which will now become an annual publication, will follow a short time later.

THE CENTENARY CONGRESS

There was excellent feedback on the 2008 Congress at Stratford on Avon. The 2009 Congress is likely to be held at the Copthorne Hotel, Manchester from 16th to 19th July. Put the date in next year’s diary now.

The Lowry Museum and the Imperial War Museum are just some of the other attractions close at hand.

A new publication celebrating 100 years of Congress is also being planned.

COUNCIL MEETING AT YORK

Representatives are reminded that they can have their say on the future of the ABPS at the next Council Meeting at theYork Stamp Fair on 17th January 2009.

ONE FRAME COMPETITION AT SPRING STAMPEX

A new competition for collectors will be displayed from 25th to 28th February at Spring Stampex.

MIDPEX 2009

The date for your diary is 11th July 2009 at the brand new Xcel Leisure Centre, Mitchell Avenue, Canley, COVENTRY, CV4 8DY, from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. The ABPS 2009 AGM, an ABPS Council Meeting, and the 2009 THEMATICA competitions will also be held alongside Midpex in the Xcel Centre.

ABPS AWARDS

Nominations are invited for the 2009 Award of Merit and for the Congress Medal. The closing date is March 1st 2009.

NATIONAL COMPETITIONS 2009

These will be back at Autumn Stampex in 2009.

COMMUNICATIONS TO FEDERATIONS

Members of the Executive Committee are willing to attend Federation and other regional events by invitation to talk about the role of ABPS.

STAMP ACTIVE NETWORK

ABPS continues to support and promote youth philately through the Stamp Active Network. They are launching a NEW E-MAIL NEWSLETTER with activities for leaders of school and junior stamp clubs.

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS

The London 2010 web site now contains the first bulletin and entry forms.

Other 2010 events will include France, South Africa, Antwerp and Portugal. British collectors have been very successful in recent events in Israel and Prague. We are still ranked third in the world.

ABPS UK COLLECTORS CLUB

Exhibitors are now being invited to register for participation in FIP/FEPA events.

66 collectors have registered so far.
