AGM & COUNCIL MEETINGS

These will take place from 2pm on Saturday 12th July at the Royal Philatelic Society, London.

HARROGATE 2008

The exhibition was seen as a great success - in a good venue, well attended, with a good range of dealers, and outstanding displays. The event is expected to break even. Further information can be found on the website: www.harrogate2008.org.uk

APPOINTMENTS AND VACANCIES

John Baron will be proposed as Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee at the forthcoming AGM.

John Pearce has taken up a new role as Advertising Manager for ABPS publications.

Bill Robertson is standing down as Chairman of the PR Committee at the year end after four years in that role. Willie King will be asked to become his replacement from January 2009.

A vacancy for General Secretary exists as Mike Brindle will be standing down at the AGM.

CONGRESS 2008 – Stratford upon Avon – 24th/27th July

The Congress Medal is being awarded this year to Robert Johnson. It will be presented at Congress.

These will be back at Autumn Stampex 2009.

Members of the Executive Committee are willing to attend Federation and other regional events, by invitation, to talk about the role of ABPS.

FESTIVAL OF STAMPS 2010

The British Postal Museum and Archive are the driving force behind many planned events over several months in 2010, with the assistance of ABPS. These will include:

Guildhall, London: The Life and Times of King George V; Freeling House, London: Special events including children’s activities; British Museum: Coins. Others will be at Lords, Wimbledon, Twickenham, the National Portrait Gallery, the National History Museum and The British Library.

Federation events are being planned by ABPS for the whole of England, Wales & Scotland. For the date of your Federation event ask your Federation Secretary for details.

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS

A number of new events for 2010 have recently been announced. These will include France, South Africa, Antwerp and Portugal as well as London. A request for entries for Rome 2009 (FEPA) will be made shortly.
