Jeannie, I have told audiences in your presence that you and Bob are two of my greatest heroes. And that you will be two of history's heroes. Because you have steadfastly championed civil rights, often in the face of real danger. Because you have honored the worth of all human beings in the way you greet and treat all whom you encounter, whether of high station or low. Because you have refused to let the challenges of advancing age prevail over your energy and dedication.

Thank you for your numerous visits to my ASU American Government classes over the years. You have been an inspiration to my students, and you have been a role model for me. I cannot recall ever seeing one of you without the other. You have made Bob's life work possible. But on this occasion, your family and friends want to celebrate your character and your determination and your life-long contributions to the cause of justice. Thank you for all that you have been and continue to be. Best wishes for your future endeavors.
