Jeannie taught Sunday School at the School for the Blind in Columbus, Ohio and learned how to read and write Braille. After her first year in college, the Dean of Capital University called Jean into his office. He had heard about her community work, and he asked her to room with a new student who was blind who would be starting classes at Capital that fall. That student, Georgia Griffith, would become Jeannie’s lifelong friend.
