Noteflight
Noteflight is an online music composition app. Users are able to save up to 10 musical compositions for free. A subscription is available for teachers to use in their classroom or individuals who would like to create and save more than 10 pieces of music.
Pedagogical Uses
This is a great and easy way for students to create a musical composition to share with the class. There is a playback feature where students can listen to their work and share their work with others.
How to do it
Students need to sign up using their email address. After they sign up, they should click on New Score in order to start composing.

Limitations
In the free version. students are only able to create and save up to 10 scores. Students are also not able to share discretely and must instead link or embed their scores publicly online.
Conclusion
Noteflight is a great way to introduce students to music composition. While it has many features of traditional music notation programs such as Finale or Sibelius, the user interface is much more accessible for beginning composers. Using the app on a ipad provides great user experience enabling students to compose directly from the online keyboard.
