129 - living nightmare

October 10, 1986: Hitchockian star Kim Novak made her entrance into the Channing family on "Falcon Crest" posing as Peter Stavros´ (late) daughter Skyler Kimball. Actually, the woman was the former lover of a gangster on the run, named Kit Marlowe. Funny name? You don´t know how much! That was the name that Columbia wanted to give her when Kim (born Marilyn Pauline Novak) started her career, but she refused and accepted "Kim" instead as her artistic name. When she was hired by the "Falcon Crest" producers, she herself suggested the Kit Marlowe name. The actress guest-starred in 19 episodes of the Sixth Season, probably the last GREAT year of the show. Her unpredictible, dual character was involved with Lance´s prodigal father Tony Cumson (played again by John Saxon) and blackmailed by Richard (who else?). Kim´s storyline was full of winks and parallels with "Vertigo" and, in a sense, was the perfect conclusion to the star´s career, though she acted again, ocasionally.

Pero en realidad era la ex amante fugitiva de un gángster y se llamaba Kit Marlowe. ¿Un nombre curioso? No lo sabéis bien...Ese mismo era el nombre que la Columbia quería para ella cuando Kim (nacida Marilyn Pauline Novak) comenzaba en su carrera, pero ella lo rechazó y aceptó "Kim" como nombre artístico. Cuando la contrataron en "Falcon Crest", ella misma sugirió el nombre de Kit Marlowe. La actriz participó en 19 episodios de la 6ª temporada, seguramente el último GRAN año de la serie. Su personaje dual e imprevisible se enamoró del padre pródigo de Lance, Tony Cumson (de nuevo interpretado por John Saxon) y fue chantajeado por Richard (¿quién si no...?). La trama de Kim estaba repleta de guiños y paralelismos con "Vértigo" y, en cierto sentido, supuso el perfecto punto y final a su carrera de actriz, aunque volvería al cine ocasionalmente.
