October 25, 1985: Angela Channing´s manor was set on fire by a very lunatic woman called Anna Rossini (played by the goody-goody Karen from "All About Eve", Celeste Holm). She was Cassandra Wilder´s mother whose husband also died in a fire...after impregnating Angela´s daughter Julia. She was hidden during her pregnancy and her son Christopher was raised by some priests in a convent far, far away from Tuscany Valley, of course. This was the way Cassandra´s storyline seemed to come to an end, after a detailed but mysterious build-up. She had ruined Chase and Richard, and was about to do the same thing to Angela. But Crazy Mama decided she had to handle things her own way...All this happened story-wise, but behind the scenes, this storyline had been made up to replace the nazi treasure plot that had been rejected half-way by the CBS bosses the previous year. Later on, both Anne Archer and Celeste Holm talked about the show rather harshly: one said she just took the role "for the money" and the other just didn´t get along with Ms. Wyman...Also Morgan Fairchild was bothered by the screentime that "a star like that Apollonia Kotero" was getting, when Fairchild was given starring credit after every final fade-out. But all were quite professional and no viewer could get the bad vibes: love and hate were the only things you could notice while watching "Falcon Crest", of course both mixed-up.

Noviembre de 1987: La mansión de Angela Channing era pasto de las llamas a causa de las malas acciones de la muy lunática Anna Rossini (interpretada por la santurrona Karen de "Eva al desnudo", Celeste Holm). Era la madre de Cassandra Wilder y su marido también había muerto en un incendio...después de dejar embarazada a la hija de Angela, Julia. La joven estuvo ausente durante su embarazo y su hijo Christopher fue criado por unos curas de un convento muy, muy lejos del Valle de Tuscany, claro está. Así parecía que la trama de Cassandra llegaba a su fin, después de una detallada pero misteriosa presentación. Había arruinado a Chase y Richard, y estaba a punto de hacer lo mismo con Angela. Pero resultó que su madre estaba más loca que una cabra y decidió ponerse ella misma manos a la obra...Esto es lo que ocurría en la ficción, pero, entre bastidores, esa trama había sido ideada para reemplazar a mitad de la temporada anterior a la del tesoro nazi, bajo presión de los jefazos de la CBS. Más tarde, tanto Anne Archer como Celeste Holm echaron pestes de la serie: la primera declaró que sólo había aceptado el papel "por dinero", y la 2ª, no se llevaba nada bien con la Wyman...También Morgan Fairchild estaba molesta por la cantidad de escenas en que aparecía "una actriz como esa Apollonia Kotero", cuando la Fairchild recibía crédito de protagonista tras el fundido a negro del final. Pero todas fueron muy profesionales y ningún espectador notó nada raro: lo único que se podía notar cuando se veía "Falcon Crest" era amor y odio...y muy mezclado.
