Bruker AVIII 400MHz NMR 管理辦法- B662
Draft Amendments to the Operating and Management Regulations for NTU Department of Chemistry's Bruker AVIII 400 NMR - B662
I. Examination Rules Explanation
All users must pass an examination to obtain operational and access permissions before independently operating the instrument. Operation is not allowed without passing the examination.
Those seeking operational permission must have a thorough understanding of the operation methods and steps before taking the exam. Practical hands-on training, supervised by management personnel or certified individuals, is required at least twice.
Practice sessions are limited to 30 minutes per person, per session, and must be scheduled with management personnel or individuals with operational permissions.
Users eligible for training and examination include:
Researchers engaged in relevant research within the department with the consent of their supervising professor.
Limited to users related to the department.
Examination Schedule:
Examinees must arrange the examination time with management personnel.
Examination Principles:
Management personnel are responsible for preparing test samples, primarily using known samples.
Examinees must independently complete the data collection and processing of proton and carbon spectra (including DEPT series experiments) within the specified time, with management personnel present.
Management personnel may suspend the exam based on the situation. Those who do not pass the exam must practice twice before reapplying.
In case of incorrect operations leading to equipment damage during the exam, the laboratory to which the user belongs will collectively share the repair costs.
Other advanced experiments, such as variable temperature and 2D experiments, require discussion with management personnel and acceptance of relevant training and tests before operation. Otherwise, in the event of equipment damage, the laboratory to which the user belongs will share the repair costs (the instrument board is expensive, each worth at least tens of thousands of dollars).
II. Open Rules Explanation
Users with operational permission must use their own access cards and accounts.
Users must record their start and end times in the usage logbook, and can leave only after completing the log and usage details (failure to do so will result in all relevant data being sent to the respective teachers).
Sharing access cards, accounts, and passwords with others is strictly prohibited. If discovered, the first offense will result in a warning and an email notification to the supervising professor. The second offense will result in a one-month suspension of NMR usage.
Management personnel and responsible teachers may inspect usage at any time.
When users cause equipment damage due to non-compliance with instructions, the laboratory to which the user belongs must collectively share the repair costs.
A. Instrument Availability
Instrument availability is divided into half-hour laboratory rotations during the day and long-term individual rotations.
AVIII 400 NMR (B662) is available for laboratory rotations from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Fridays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am are reserved for instrument calibration and liquid nitrogen filling, suspending open usage.
For maintenance, repair, or experimental testing of other instruments, management personnel may announce temporary suspension of instrument usage.
(1) [Segment A - From 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, a total of 2 hours]
[Segment B - From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a total of 3 hours]
(2) Those who sign up for Segment B have the first priority to renew Segment A (reservation rotations count as one time).
(3) Those who sign up for the long-term rotation on the previous night have the second priority to renew Segment A (reservation rotations count as one time).
(4) Each person is allowed one rotation per week. Those with additional needs must wait for the evening rotations on the previous day, the current day, or Friday evening. The drawing of lots or application submission will determine the assignments during these rotations.
B. Laboratory Rotation Time Reservation
The reservation of instrument usage is organized by laboratory units. Users from each laboratory take turns signing up for time slots according to the order listed in the NMR room rotation schedule.
Only one time slot (30 minutes) can be signed up for at a time. If the first priority user does not arrive, the second priority user fills the slot.
After the first priority user signs up, the next user in the rotation schedule signs up. This continues until no one is left or until all regular usage time slots are filled.
The first priority user today becomes the last priority user tomorrow, and the second priority user today becomes the first priority user tomorrow.
If time slots are still available after the first round, a second round of sign-ups is opened. (No third round is available.) Users are encouraged to coordinate and start signing up from the beginning of each hour during the first round.
Users who are not punctual forfeit their turn.
Representatives must come to reserve rotation time slots at the designated times in the afternoon (5:30 PM for room A525 on the fifth floor and 5:35 PM for room B662 on the sixth floor). In case of holidays, reservations are made on the day before the holiday. For example, on weekends, reservations can be made on Friday evening for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday usage.
Reserved time slot users must start operating the equipment promptly at the reserved time. If they are more than two minutes late, they lose their priority usage rights, and the next person in line takes their turn.
C. Personal Long-Term Rotation Reservation
AVIII 400NMR (B662) long-term rotations have two time periods:
morning (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM) and overnight (10:00 PM - 8:00 AM the next day).
Rotation occurs once a week, and users self-designate time slots on Monday evenings at 5:35 PM (B662). Users must specify their research group, Chinese name, and laboratory phone number when signing up.
Fourteen time slots are open for rotation each week, starting from Tuesday and ending on the following Monday.
Users can only select one time slot per week, except on Sundays, where they can choose two time slots. Users must choose either weekday or Sunday slots, not both. The chosen time slots are considered claimed, regardless of actual usage (as it is based on individual users, not laboratories). The frequency of rotation sign-ups may be adjusted based on circumstances.
Users needing long-term usage must come in person or send a designated representative to reserve a time slot.
Order of reservation is determined by drawing lots or coordination.
Unfilled time slots are given to users on a first-come, first-served basis. In the case of simultaneous arrivals, drawing lots or coordination will decide. Long-term users should indicate their status on the long-term usage schedule.
Users who don't need a time slot should refrain from randomly filling out the schedule. Filling out a time slot for long-term experiments is considered claiming that time and incurring charges, regardless of actual usage. Administrators will use timing software to check for actual usage, and if no records are found, fees may be pursued (unit price x hours x n, where n > 2).
Except for the Monday evening rotation sign-up, if there are still vacant time slots later in the week, they can be assigned on the previous day or the same day in the evening. For weekend time slots (Saturday to Monday), assignments can be made on Friday evening.
Those who reserve a time slot but cannot come for long-term usage must cancel no later than the rotation sign-up time.
Emergency applications for special needs will be considered and assisted.
D. Service Types and Fee Standards
The instrument does not provide testing services but offers educational training and consultation services.
Relevant educational training will be offered as needed each academic year.
The instrument operation fee is charged on a per-laboratory basis.
Each NMR account (regardless of the number of devices) will be charged an annual account setup fee per laboratory.
The NMR room will provide written guidance on basic experimental procedures and precautions.
E. Notes and Management Rules
Notes:
The instrument room is equipped with two surveillance systems, and there are access control and surveillance systems outside the instrument room. Passwords are provided based on need and without compromising the security of the surveillance system.
USB drives are not allowed inside the instrument room, and users are not allowed to install software on the computer arbitrarily.
Each professor's laboratory uses an independent account and password. (Independent accounts are used to protect the files of individual laboratories.)
The instrument cannot initiate NMR operations without an account and password.
If a user's account has not ended, the next account cannot execute experiments. Users must remember to log out of their accounts after experiments.
If needed, an administrator may stop tasks being executed by an account in emergency situations, potentially resulting in data loss.
Long-term experimenters should pay attention to the experiment setup and accurately estimate the required time for the experiment, making it convenient for them to come and finish the experiment on time or earlier the next day. Remember: complete the log-out action when the experiment ends to facilitate the next account's usage. Do not log out if the experiment is not finished, as it will be terminated.
Experiment data processing should be done on the Process PC or the laboratory's PC.
Under normal circumstances, account passwords can be applied for and changed annually.
The NMR room does not provide a printer to save machine time.
Eating is not allowed in the NMR room, and personal items must be taken away when leaving.
The instrument automatically records the user's login time, which is the basis for instrument operation charges. Users must remember to log out of their accounts after experiments. Do not lend your account or password to others, as this affects the interests of each laboratory.
Violations List:
Intentional destruction of computers or networks.
Failure to notify management when an NMR TUBE breaks inside the instrument probe.
Deliberately terminating experiments on original samples during someone else's scheduled time, replacing them with personal samples, and then returning the original samples after testing. (This situation will be investigated by reviewing the login events on the computer and checking surveillance footage in case of abnormal experiments.)
Leading individuals from other departments or external individuals to operate NMR without permission.
Operating without a license, without the accompaniment of a supervisor (Ph.D. or M.Sc.), or using someone else's card without permission.
Leaving without signing the logbook.
Conducting experiments without following management rules. (Any violations will be reported to the responsible NMR professor and the supervisor of the person involved, or sent to the department for disciplinary actions, including suspension.)
F. File Management:
Each laboratory will use an independent account named after the teacher, and laboratory members will create their own subdirectories under the same account.
Each account will be allocated 2 GB of storage space for file storage.
Each laboratory is responsible for managing files, deciding whether to keep, delete, or back up files. Once the storage limit of 2 GB is exceeded, no further files can be saved, and no more experiments can be conducted.
If management personnel need to clear all files for an account belonging to the same laboratory, they must obtain consent from the supervisor, who will assist in completely deleting all files for that account.
It is recommended to name files using the format "Name-YYYYMMDD-SampleNumber" to facilitate future file searches.
