Manual Locking + Shimming

Manual Locking

1.     Type bsmsdisp, select lift to take out sample  in the magnet.(For those doing overnight)

      (The air sounds different whether sample is in the magnet or not)

2.     Insert sample into the spinner, and set the depth with    depth gauge. Place the sample on the air cushion on top        of  magnet and press  lift again to let the sample drop            gently  into the  magnet.

  (Note: Failure to set depth will break sample in the  probe.)

     For BBFO probe  = 2.0 cm  (bottom of gauge)

3.   Type lockdisp to generate lock window.

4.   Adjust lock DC to put the lock level in the center of lock window.  Set lock power (-20 ~ 5) and lock gain (104 ~120)

5.     Before manual locking, used wheel of mouse to shift        the Field  and place the lock signal in the center of the  lock window.

  (Field key is found in  bsmsdisp with item lock/level)

   (Type rsh bbfo if necessary. This will resets shims to the         latest best values.)

6.     Adjust lock phase to make the level of lock signal is equal in both the right and left side.

7.     Select lock and the green color frame generate in bsmsdisp while the field is locked.

       (Lock level will goes up in the lock window rapidly once the field is being locked)

8.     After locking,  use Auto Lock Phase in bsmsdisp to adjust lock phase.

9.     If lock level swinging up and down , decrease the lock power and lock gain to stabilize it.


Manual Shimming

10. In bsmsdisp Select Z, shim it (use +/-) in either direction to increase the height of  lock level and halt while the lock level start to fall down.

11. Select Z2 ,shim it as the way Z is. 

12. Repeat shimming on Z and Z2 several times.

13. In nonspinning mode, shim x, y, xz, yz, xy  again and again.

    (shimming on x, y --- will increase the resolution of peaks.)

14. Shim again Z, Z2.
