The race was televised live and flag-to-flag on ABC, billed as the "Atlanta 500". Several cars had two "race-cams" in each, one positioned on the windshield for a front view and one positioned beneath the seat to see the driver. Neil Bonnett was one driver who used an in-car camera.
Due to the length of the race, pre and post-race coverage was very limited, as the coverage signed on with the command to fire engines, and after the race only an interview with winner Ricky Rudd was aired, technical credits were not shown.
