The race was broadcast live on CBS, billed as a "CBS Sports Special". Three in-car cameras was used, in the cars of Geoff Bodine, Kyle Petty, and Harry Gant.

Rain delayed the start of the race by 46 minutes, postponing the start time to 12:46 PM. CBS filled the time with a number of interviews and features. Due to the late start, CBS went well over their air time, and around 120 laps into the race left for coverage of the Great Hartford Open golf tournament. They returned for an update at lap 150, as well as the final 10 laps. The coverage signed off at around 4:05 PM instead of the planned 3:30 PM.
