Phil Parsons would do commentary from inside his car. He dropped out 15 laps into the race with shock problems, and would join Ken Squier in the booth for the remainder of the race.
The coverage was scheduled to come on air at 10:30 AM, but the start of the race was delayed 2 and a half hours by rain, not starting until around 1:30 PM. During the time, WTBS diverted for alternative programming. The race aired to it's conclusion, finishing around 5:00 PM, with other programming being pre-empted.
