1985 Miller High Life 400

Network: WTBS

Date and time: February 24, 1985, 1:00 PM

Format: Live

Length: 4 hours (scheduled for 3 and a half hours)

The race was televised live and in full on WTBS. It was billed as the "Richmond 400".

The broadcast was marred by technical difficulties, resulting in it being audio-only for a period. It also overran it's timeslot due to a red flag caused by a crash of Neil Bonnett on lap 239, finishing at 5:00 PM instead of 4:30 PM, which pre-empted coverage of an NBA game. Due to this, there was no post-race coverage, WTBS leaving immediately after Dale Earnhardt took the checkered flag, and technical credits were not shown. WTBS came back during the half-time of the NBA game for an interview with winner Dale Earnhardt.
