1971 Greenville 200

Network: ABC

Date and time: April 10, 1971, 5:00 PM

Format: Live

Length: 1 and a half hours

The race was broadcast in full live on ABC's Wide World of Sports. It was the first NASCAR race to be televised live, flag-to-flag. Several races had been partially televised live before.

However, the broadcasts were usually poorly recieved, due to the lack of action in the races. Greenville was no exception, as winner Bobby Isaac won by two laps. The live experiment would not be repeated until 1979.
