Unit 7 Stoichiometry

IF YOU ARE READING THIS, PLEASE STOP BY TODAY TO GET YOUR ASSIGNMENTS TO MAKE CORRECTIONS BEFORE THE TEST!

Remember this! "No mass mole!" -- you cannot compare ratios of grams because each substance has a different mass. You can compare quantities of molecules or moles. USE ONLY MOLE RATIOS!

For the exam:

    1. When given a quantity of a reactant in a chemical equation, determine theoretically what the yield of either product will be using the mole ratio. (Be able to do this if given moles or if given grams. Be able to answer the question in both moles and grams.)

    2. Be able to balance a chemical equation to get the correct coefficients to use in your mole ratios.

    3. Once you have calculated your theoretical yield (#1), use this value to determine your actual yield for the products of a chemical reaction.
