The importance of promoting health and wellness in the workplace

Some individuals are uninspired to get moving due to the type of work they have. When individuals lead healthy and active lifestyles, there is a great chance their productivity level sits high. Employers play a key role in keeping their employees healthy and inspired to lead an active lifestyle. Health and wellness go beyond being injury-free. A person enjoys wellness when they are free from physical, mental, and emotional health issues. Over the recent years, the seven dimensions to overall wellness have been acknowledged and taught expansively in the United States, says Martin Lloyd Sanders. The seven dimensions are emotional health, intellectual health, spiritual health, physical health, social health, occupational health, and environmental health.

People commonly spend eight to twelve hours a day at work, making occupational health a crucial part of their wellness. Even when employees are provided the option to work from home, their workload isn’t reduced. The current health and social climate call for employers to promote health and wellness in the workplace. Employers and employees can enjoy a healthy work environment When workplace policies, health and safety legislation, and health promotion programs are implemented and followed.
