Last Monday our good friends from the Queens Botanical Garden Compost Project and a couple of very nice Master Composters in training came down to help us put together a hot pile using our collected scraps.
The Pile was up to 150 - 160F, which is a little too hot, so hot in fact that steam was rising as we turned it. I tried to capture this in film, but I don't think the picture really shows how hot and steamy the pile really is:
Meanwhile, here is a picture of (L-R) Gina, Andrew, Chris Ashley and Laura finishing up the hot pile constructions that I neglected to post the other day:
