Community Compost Give Back - Sunday 19 May 10 - 11am, and Compost Work Day 11am - 1pm

Post date: May 05, 2013 7:12:37 PM

After a long winter of decomposing, some of our lovely compost is just about ready to be used.

So on Sunday 19 May from 10am to 11am we will be hosting a compost give back.

So come on down with your own container to collect some compost for your house plants or favourite curbside tree.

Before the compost can be taken away, it must be screened, and although this means you get to play with the awesome trommel that NYC Compost helped us to build last autumn, it does mean that you will get a little dirty, and maybe break a sweat.

If you are enthusiastic, you can stay on after the giveback has ended at 11am to help us to aerate the other curing bin and create a new hot pile from the now quite full tumblers, which will go on until about 1pm, when composting normally closes for the day.

If you are coming to help with the workday drop us a line at licgardencompost@gmail.com, as we will have some food for hungry workers around 12:30pm, and I will need to know numbers, food preferences (eg herbivore, carnivore, omnivore), etc.

For the compost work day bring hat, sunscreen, gloves and wear old clothes as hot pile creation is kind of messy work.

See you there!!
