Reception for LIC Duck is a quacking good time

Sorry, I had to....

On Saturday 27th October friends and supporters of both the garden and local artist Petra Valentova for a reception for the newly installed sculpture 'LIC Duck'.

Artist Petra Valentova said that she had seen people standing tentatively at the gate to the garden, unsure whether to come in, and so she designed the sculpture to be alluring and welcoming, to bridge their uncertainty.

Children are drawn to it like a beacon, and swarm to touch it and climb on it. It is both surreal and somewhat whimsical. You can't help but be drawn to it.

I can't wait to take a picture of it floating on a lake of snow in winter.

In the meantime, check out Petra's kickstarter video from the fundraising campaign, which explains a bit more about the project, and is a quacking good time as well.
