Seeking new Community Composting Volunteer Compost Co-ordinator

Post date: Jan 12, 2014 8:20:53 PM

LIC Community Garden is looking for a new volunteer community compost co-ordinator.

The garden offers community composting on sundays from 10am to 1pm, year round. We process half of the compost onsite, and have an agreement to transfer the other half to nearby collection sites. In addition, the garden holds compost working bees to create hot piles, finish compost, provide compost education, and compost give-backs throughout the spring, summer and early fall.

The garden is located on 49th ave between Vernon Blvd and 5th st. It is 2 doors down from Shady Park/Andrew's Grove.

This is a volunteer position. The garden is able to offer the new volunteer community compositor access to a garden plot for their use in the spring/summer.

Previous experience is not necessary, full orientation and familiarization will be provided. The timeframe for handover would be basically anytime from now until mid-March.

It is a fun and rewarding role, although sometimes a bit mucky, and a great way to be more involved in the LIC Community, meet your neighbours and meet gardeners and composters from around Queens.

Email licgardencompost@gmail.com if you are interested and would like more information.
