Due to construction at the 401 highway bridge on some Wednesdays we are constrained to play only the Northern 10 holes. When this occurs we will have a 'special novelty event' into which all who play and submit scores are automatically entered.
There is no special action on anyone's part except to ensure that your hole-by-hole gross score gets entered into the system by a group scorer like they would normally do. In this case where there are no scores for some holes, scorers must 'tab' over holes 8 & 9, then enter the front 7 subtotal, followed by 'tabbing' over 10 - 15 and entering 16 -18 with the back 3 subtotal. All the rest is automatic.
For other Gaffers Events it is a No Play Day so no scores will be used for anything else.
For each player there will be a 'Quota' defined which is calculated from their Stableford points scores for the last 5 weeks on those holes. Stableford scores are points awarded for a bogey or better.
When the event is run on a 'construction' week each player's submitted score is analysed and the Stableford points are calculated. The 'winner' of the event is the person who has the best result compared to their Quota.
The results will be published online (see link below) and on the noticeboard in lieu of the normal Week report.
Because total gross or net scores are immaterial, this format encourages players to take that 'risky' approach shot, or putt a little more firmly to avoid being short of the hole. If things don't go ideally, there is always the next hole to get more points. The higher hole score when a risky shot is unsuccessful does not really matter in this event.

Some more details:
The 'Quota' calculation takes each player's most recent 5 Gaffers rounds' scores and generates Stableford points for the Northern 10 holes. The average of the best 3 of those 5 is used to calculate the quota which is calculated and shown to 1 decimal place.
The points are awarded per hole using a Modified Stableford system shown below and totalled for the round played.
2 or more over par - no points
1 over par (bogey) - 1 point
par - 2 points
1 under par (birdie) - 4 points
2 under par (eagle) - 6 points
3 under par - 8 points
There are no "gimmes" so all potential scoring shots need to be played, including tap-ins. Once over a bogey, you can pick up or accept "gimmes" as you wish.
All other Gaffers rules apply.
