Keeping your own Handicap

Gaffers handicaps only include rounds played as part of the Gaffers League. Many players like to have a view of their handicap that includes all their rounds. KitchenerGolf site let us enter scores into eHandicap, but see here for information about the fact that their playing handicap no longer reflects the current World Handicap System (WHS).

Some players sign up for the Golf Association of Ontario, where you can keep track of all your rounds and get an up to date Handicap Index, or Playing handicap for a specific course and tee combination. Current membership is $49.95.

Some of us may use smart phone apps for tracking scores as we play. I (Rick Lugg) use Golf Pad (click to go there) whose free app works during a round and can track all your rounds for you. However, to get a Handicap Index, (or a Playing handicap for a specific course/tees) there is a paid option that also clears the ads.

Mike Swift who has moved to London On and is no longer playing as a Gaffer has found this app The Grint (click to go there) , which like Golf Pad is ad-supported unless you pay. However, it does provide a Handicap Index and Playing Handicap even in their free version.  Like GolfPad you can also use it independently of a phone, at their web site once you create an account.

Do let me know if you decide to try The Grint. While you will have to enter scores on the website if you don't capture them while playing, I might be able to develop an upload feature for entering scores from Gaffers rounds from the Gaffers scorebook. It would save a little effort and avoid entering Gaffers scores manually.
