All Gaffers will be automatically enrolled in all events. In the past players had to enter the Match Play and Two Man team events explicitly. Wins are tracked in the system and prizes awarded at season end. If you do not wish to participate you may decline using your Dashboard, or if not able to use the Dashboard, a committee member can do that on your behalf.
Each week, based on the scores that are entered, the Gaffers Cup, Skins, Closest to the Pin and Two Man Team events are updated, based on net stroke play scores. For Match Play and Consolation Rounds they normally occur during the weekly play and are head-to-head matches.
Closest-to-the-Pin Tee shot onto the green that lands closest to the Pin for the week.
Skins The lowest unique net score for the week on each hole is a skin. Number of skins won are totalled for the year.
Match Play Head to head, hole by hole scoring. Players must keep track of the Match score manually. The draw is seeded based on Gaffers Handicap factors for all entrants at a particular week near the start of the season. In the event a player loses in the first round they play, they can go into a new Consolation event.
For the next two events, points from each week are added up through the season. To allow for brief absences, the worst two points from active playing days are dropped from the season total. Points are awarded from a maximum, downwards based on an ordered list of scores.
Gaffers Cup Weekly stroke play event that uses all players' net scores. Descending value of points based on total membership numbers
2 Man Team Better Ball The low net team score for each hole is totalled to create a team net for the week. Descending value of points based on number of teams participating. Players not declaring teammate names will be allocated a teammate based on Gaffers Handicap Factors at a particular week.
We may have a 'Scramble' event. It is dependent on the calendar and weather. The intent is to have the Scramble as a 'warm up' prior to the start of the season. When that is done, prize money for the Scramble will be included in the season's prizes for the winners>
As a fall-back, we may run the Scramble at the end of the season, after the Closing Meeting. In that case, the Scramble winnings will be handed out separately at the end of the event.
