1. Projects and Promotions: Co-ordinator Lahni Sowter spoke to her written report. Discussion around communication and the role of social media. John Vujcich and Lahni will get together and work on the Kaikohe Community Web Site and have a discussion around the social media. Newsletter to go to the members. Members can use it for advertising. Rawene cited as an example. Lahni tabled a sample template. Executive to work out the advertising regime.
1.1 Resolved: “That the Association put out a newsletter to all local businesses (print version and digital) in two weeks, based on the template that Lahni has drawn up.”

Matters Arising: Concerns about the route and communication around the Christmas parade to be communicated to HYPE via Lahni. Tidy up of planter boxes, flags and Christmas trees to go.

2. Motor Home Friendly Town initiative: Verbal Report from Councilor Vujcich
4 weeks for FNDC to change the by-law to avoid a legal battle. There is a separate piece of work Council is doing regarding places where people can camp.
3. Cycle friendly town / route of trail: Tabled a map showing the route from coast to coast. 14 pieces left to complete from east to west. Western side may be completed by end of summer. These are going out to tender. Kawakawa to Opua section has several issues to sort out including live rail going back in. The by-pass still needs to be closed down. Cycle friendly town initiative has done some consultation on cycle lanes etc.
4. Ngapuhi Festival: Exec committee working with Te Runanga on this and will report back.
5. Events – A&P show: Communicate and have a KBA presence.
6. Kaikohe main street footpaths: Update lower Broadway renewal will not occur until early next year. Lumped together with the Ahipara footpath contract.
7. Ministry of Education Move to Kerikeri: Is not justified and the KBA supports all measures to change this decision
8. Northland College Rebuild: MP’s comments here via Northern Advocate. Ministry of Education is given “spin” on this and not bringing
Community Patrol, Security: Joe Nol crime is down, one of the lowest rates in Northland. Contradicts Ministry concerns on safety.
Lobby to speak to Council regarding staff moving to the Butler Centre: Shaun Reilly gave a historical overview of the gradual attrition of staff members. There is a meeting with the Infrastructure Committee instead of the full Council as requested.
Local Alcohol Policy: Shaun spoke on the appeal and the petition circulated to reduce the flow into the community. The four other appeals are industry based, attempting to not restrict the hours of sale for alcohol.
