1. Council Annual Plan Submissions update – Steve
Steve S represented KBA with a submission – oral submission – very similar to last year – await a response
2. Council update - Sally
Local communities in the Far North will have to pay for their own swimming pool complexes.
3. Joanne Nattrass spoke and introduced the Northland Age as an advertising and news option.
4. Kaikohe Action Plan consolidation – 3-4 weeks ago there was a meeting to get action plan for town tidy up prior to spring. Ian Carruthers seconded from Runanga. Karen Remetis proposal presented – shehelps small towns like us. Workshop cost $1750 + GST – Community Board contribution $630, some from KBA attend – look at evening of 30 June, from 5:30, and short session on Tuesday morning. Need actionnot talk, says Shaun.
Moved: that this Association go ahead with the Karen Remetis consultation time and agree to fund the balance of the cost of her time Steve/ Joe pass, one against

7. Growing Kaikohe - MikeS
PowerPoint presentation: Measurement is the first step to making change. 3950 in town boundary, 31.6% under 15, 21.6% unemployed (not counting sickness, DPB, training)
Do we understand our local economy, what level of control do we have over it; how can we improve it?
Perhaps the skill level of jobs available is overall higher than our local workforce has. 26 June meet with MSD and schools to link the need with education supplied.
8. Ngapuhi Asset Holding Company – Paul Knight, new manager, introduced himself. Financial, economic and social aspects considered for investments. Currently advertising for Caltex service stationmanager.
9. Dallas Williams: meeting Thursday 19 June 5:30pm at Lindvart Park –re developments there
10. CCTV/ Security Joe: Option for KBA to purchase an ex-FNDC car – no running costs for the KBA for two years.

KBA Projects Report - June 17th Kelly van Gaalen Signage on information Kiosk:
1) Guy Road: Ngawha Springs sign looks good thanks to Top Energy. Kaikohe Rotary – Bill Holdem was looking into producing the clubs and services sign as a fundraising activity. (We are still in need of food outlets, accommodation providers to advertise)
· This garden area has now been included in the FNDC maintenance schedule
· No response from Corrections with help to build concrete platforms for the picnic tables, will follow this up or find alternatives
2) Station Road: Pioneer Village waiting on sign writer, Council advised they have a small fund to help with signage to encourage cyclists to town
· Garden has been replanted, waiting on picnic table and RFS to provide a rubbish bin
· Council are investigating prices for a metalled car parking area, KBA quote received by Jerkovich Transport $4500 (included in our Pub Charity and Oxford funding application)
3) Taheke Road: Shane Lloyd has asked for an extension of 1 month to get the outgoing sign produced for Hokianga. Len’s Pies have a proof and are waiting advice,Pioneer Village waiting on signwriter.
Oxford Trust Funds $5000 towards cycle racks and signage.
· Community board have approved the purchase of the second series of cycle racks ($3000), supporting Kaikohe as a cycle friendly town. However they do not want to release this until a town plan has been produced…..
· Cycle Friendly signage will be the main focus of Oxford funds
· Finger post signage - Jayson Coles and Kevin Hanley will create these in time for the summer
· Waiting on Confirmation from Pamela McDonald – Cycle Detour signs/ Park your bike.
· Purchase/order 2/3x small bike racks (same as Broadway Health and McDonalds)
· Pou Pou series (Resources)
· Street Furniture (Kelvin hopes to start de nailing timber Wednesday)
· Hanging baskets- Sally to source 30 baskets from FNDC, waiting on Bunnings 20
(Hope to use the glass house at Pioneer Village to get baskets started ready for spring)
· Discussion required with Crime prevention partners re: cameras and approach
· Planter Boxes, Henwoods vs Northland College work in progress. Other Projects and Promotion opportunities:

KBA will need to ensure pavement is water blasted for painting and ask the businesses in this area to supply lunch for the students.
Newsletter to update members on progress ready for go out with annual subscriptions
Community Board In conjunction with KBA has secured Office space at Maypark Print for 6 months from 30th June – information collection to help with an overall beautification programme for Kaikohe toilets/footpaths/street furniture/pedestrian crossings/disabled car parking…..etc. , place for public to raise Kaikohe issues and find solutions…… Kelly: Tuesday and Thursday 10am- 2pm.
My Kaikohe –Glen Hannah’s My Kaikohe template has been altered and gone out to all the schools asking the younger Kaikohe community for feedback/ Vision/dreams andideas on what they see as Kaikohe direction and future. An amended copy will be circulated to the business and adult community.
Kaikohe BUY LOCAL support local: window stickers and campaign in draft. Hope to take this to Economic Development committee prior to Members.
