History: Oldar was an ancient land and they are proud of it. In the Ages of darkness elves lived here before some catastrophe drove them away. Shortly thereafter the first Oldarians arived and built their castles that still are open to the public as museums today. This ancient history has led to the modern day propaganda that the Oldarian culture is the most highly developed and thus need not change. Therefore the military and the the laws are mostly obsolete. Due to the many holes in the laws smuggling has become a serious problem for the border provinces in Monaserat. This was the pretext for the invasion after the Muerti War. It is said with much seriousness that the oldarian police and customs corps only arrest those that does not pay enough bribes. And that the country's economy is based on bribes and tourists. This is not entirely correct since the soil is fertile and therefore produces grain enough to export and olives besides.
Rule: The country is made up of several semi independent city states that governs their trade and law enforcement independently. The only gathering force is the army and the Ministry of culture, the last mentioned is represented in every town and administrates trade deals between the city states and schools, temples and museums (an often seen ting in Oldar). The Empire has an easy time of ruling here since there was no previous government to speak of. Governor is Haiten Leduk.
Army: The army is equipped with long pikes, large shields and banded mail. All rather old fashioned. Only recently in answer to the external treats from mighty Monaserat and aggressive Morain a cavalry was commissioned, with much grieve. The army has been thoroughly changed to fit the legions and the locals took to it with ease. Soldiers is therefore one of the main exports of Oldar.
