De eneste som skiller seg ut fra andre klasser er de gode og de onde paladinene.
The year 69 after the gods created the first of the humanoid races a single Paladin was Chosen to penetrate the defences of the good paladins. Seeing the apparent success of the consept of paladins, Muerti wanted to create his own order of holy wariors to stand against Vitas faithfull. As the wilder races did not have the dicipline demanded to follow a strict code and never would have been accepted among the civilized races a human was Chosen among the soldiers of Muerti. A man utterly devoted to death, Nathorant Akmartoth were given his powers by the god himself and sent to infiltrate and recruit among the Paladinus Lux. Arriving as the first recruits seeking to become good paladins began to present themselves, he was the 7th to swear the oath. Muerti must have obscurred his paladins words to the Six as he swore for he was accepted and soon gained rank.
But, alas it was too late. The forces of good gained ground steadily and it became evident to Muerti that he must loose the war. Knowing that his fellow gods would not destroy him so as not to disturb the balance of life and death he began planing revenge several years before the war ended with the great sealing. To his diciple Nathoranth he gave the order to recruit and wait and strike as the forces of good was unaware and celebrating theire victory.
The evil paladin filled with wrath aginst his enemies and sorrow for his gods loss did as commanded. The year 73 AC the six and their adventurer companions was burned alive as they were celebrating. The heads of the good alliance was also killed at the same time by Nathorant and his Paladinus Muerti that had risen to revenge all as commanded. But it was so that the elven prince and one of the six unexpectedly had left the party and avoided geting killed by the fires that consumed the city of Artar Dahl and its inhabitants.
Ariving in time to witness his fathers, The Elven King, body burn in magic fire and coming to late to save his comrades, including his brother, he killed the only surving member of his adventuring party believing him to be responsible for the murders as his former comrade was fending of the attacks of Nathoranth. Lutriandil the only survivor of the six thought his former friend in arms was attacking a fellow paladin of Vita confirming his suspicions. It was then Nathoranth revealed his true nature to the griefstruck good paladin. Had it not been for Daevig the great silver dragon Lutriandil would have fallen that day and the God of Death would have had his revenge. Instead the dragon killed the evil paladin.
Nathoranth the 7th paladin left behind a lasting legacy however, the Paladinus Muerti. Steadily they built their forces as the forces of the good paladins dvindeled and became disorganized. Over time the paladins of Muerti gained foothold several places including Moragh, the name itself meaning black ranges. There they built their fortress and their ultimate temple to their god. There they ruled the surrounding country supreme.
The force of the Paladinus Muerti might have been even more far reaching had it not been for the misstep by their Grand Master Sath in the year 536 MT. In a grandiose conquest he led his forces against the Empire of Monaserat aiming for conquest of the rich fields of the Monaseratian provinces. By the help of the military genious of their young emperor Holger II backed by a small force of good paladins led by a mysterious elven paladin, the evil forces of Moragh was driven back until the Empire laid siege on the fortress of Morahg, the black hold. A fortress dug out of the black ranges. After three years of siege the Paladinus Muerti saw clearly that the actions of their Grand Master had led to catastrophy and that he clearly had not the blessing of Muerti any more and thus surrendered the Grand Masters dead body to the emperor together with a conditional surrender. Moragh was to become a province of Monaserat paying taxes to the imperial crown, but ruling internal matters themselves.
Against the council of his mysterious paladin councilor, the emperor accepted the surrender and thus ended the war called the Moraghian scourge, but among the black paladins themselves only named The folly of Sath the Godcursed.
Long years followed were the Paladinus Muerti were protected from foreign enemies by the Monaseratian forces. In this time the entire province of Moragh effectively came under the bootheel of the order of evil paladins. Their forces increased, supported by the steady income of the surrounding land. The Paladinus Lux did not have that fortune and their numbers slowly dwindeled until their numbers did not count more than a few hundred spread through the world.
The release of Muerti marked a new bloom for the good paladins as their ancient fortress was found and the six once again were reborn. The rebirth of the ancient heroes marked the start of the Muerti War. A war led by evil paladins and necromantic forces that first ravaged the north and soon after with the support of the combined forces of the cromatic dragons led by Firstfather the first chromatic dragon they surged into the south of Midtlandia. The Paladinus Muerti once again rode to war.
Miarasta Von Radamaerl was Chosen by Muerti as his tool for revenge and victory. Quickly advancing in skill as evil Paladin she was destined to bear a child that was to shake the earth. Destiny may have had some sense of humor for the father of her child were Kezêmatarr the elven rogue an unknown son of the Wanderer aka. Lutriandil. So a seed of the greatest force of good was destined to become the greatest paladin the world would ever see. The Dark prophecies said nothing however if this was as a good or evil paladin.
When the truth came forth seasoned adventurers managed to sneak into Moragh itself kidnapping the young offspring of Miarasta and Kezêmatarr, bringing it back to the forces of good to be raised as a good paladin.
It is not known what Miarasta felt about the situation but as the Gods quit their war and the forces of evil was driven back and most evil paladins fell before the might of the six and the forces of the rest of Midtlandia she was not one of the fallen.
After the Muerti War the Paladinus Muerti had lost most of their members as weel as Moragh and their Grand Master Nertod Hotem. In addition evil paladins was forbidden by punishment of death in the whole of Midtlandia. It was up to Miarasta the Chosen of Muerti to assemble the pieces and building a new and flexible organisation under cover.
