Hymn to Vita
”The dawn of mourning”. Translated and simplified into common from the elven high song “Miyande tar Vita” by the court bard of Torgian the fifth to sit on the throne of Canticles 2345 AC* (Dark Millenia).
Before She came the world
Mourned
Before the time began she
Existed
In the dawn the trees
Stirred.
Silent her feet trod the
Earth
Lo! The sun rises over the
Woods.
She spoke and good
Woke
She spoke and elves
Stirred
She spoke and life
Began
The first breeze of
Life
The first glint of
Good
Let all rejoice in the dawn of
Life
Let the mourning
End
For the lifegiver is
Here
The Elven Lady is
Here
Let all sorrow end in song of life!
* Not much is known about the lost kingdoms and empires that rose and fell during the dark millennia, but as several songs in common (then ancient common , but modernized) bears this trademark, sages and bards generally agree that the Kingdom of Torgian and his Canticle Throne must have been an enlightened and elf friendly nation, where the arts of beauty was much revered.
