Instructions for students:

Discussion- Week 3

Please use the discussion board to post your assignment and respond to your classmates. In this assignment you will create a post that gives some information about yourself and asks about others.

First go to elllo and listen to this interview: Interview on Elllo (video1)

Listen specifically for what question is asked. Then see if you can write this question as reported speech.

Think about your opinion on the question. Write a few sentences about your opinion on the subject to include in your post.

Then go to Elllo and choose a video (video 2)that looks interesting to you. Watch the video. Try to identify the question the person is answering (be sure to choose a video that answers a question). Then write a sentence reporting the question with indirect speech. Then summarize the person's response using indirect speech. Finally, write a short paragraph telling your opinion on the subject and whether you agree or disagree with the person's response.

In your initial post your should include

    • your name in the subject line
    • Indirect speech that reports the question in video 1
  • a few sentences indicating your opinion on the topic
  • A link to your chosen video
  • Indirect speech that reports the question in your chosen video
  • indirect speech that reports the opinion stated in the video
  • a short paragraph talking about your own opinion on the subject and whether you agree or disagree with the opinion in the video

For extra Points- record your post as an audio or video recording and attach it or link it to your post.

You must also reply to two classmates, the first of which must be to someone who does not yet have a reply, if such is the case. Your reply should include

  • a short response to what the person wrote
  • Your opinion about the question in the person's chosen video.
  • Relate whether you agree or disagree with the person by using direct or indirect speech.
  • ask 1 follow up question

When someone replies to your post with a question, please also answer the question. When replying to the question, first restat the question as reported speech. You may continue any of the discussions longer but you must have a minimum of 1 initial post, 2 reply posts as outlined above (1 reply to two different students) and responses to any questions you are asked.

Please post your assignment as a new thread in the Week 3 Discussion with your name in the subject line.

Your post is due by Thursday Week 3.

In addition you must respond to at least two posts from your classmates.

Reply by Sunday Week 4.
