Shanghai: School Library Symposium 2011 - Sat, 15 Jan

Symposium fee: 500 RMB

We all have something that works really well, whether it is a book week activity for elementary school, an introduction to the IB Extended Essay for Year 12s, or an efficient way to change subject headings in our automated library management system. In teaching we often discover that learning by doing shows what works and what does not. These discoveries, often based on lots of hard work, lots of trial and error sessions, are hugely important in establishing a successful library practice and library teaching. We are looking for people who want to share a particular good practice they have developed in their Libraries.

If you are interested in presenting at the School Library Symposium 2011 please contact us at slnsymposium@gmail.com giving details of your presentation topic. Please indicate whether your presentation is aimed at Early Years, Elementary/Primary, Middle or High School Librarians.

A draft outline programme for the day is included below. We aim to offer 3 sessions of simultaneous workshops throughout the day so there is lots of scope for involvement at all levels.

8:00 -- 9:00: Registration, Coffee/Tea

9:00 -- 9:45: Opening & Welcome (Plenary Session)

9:45 -- 10:15: Coffee/Tea Break

10:20 -- 11:20: Session 1: Workshops

11:25 -- 12:25: Session 2: Workshops

12:30 -- 2:00 Lunch

2:05 -- 3:00: Session 3: Workshops

3:10 -- 4:00: Closing (Plenary session)

7:00 -- 9:30 Conference Dinner
