Shanghai Librarians’ Symposium November 4-6, 2011

Post date: Sep 04, 2011 10:26:13 AM

The 2nd annual Librarians' Symposium is being held at the Western International School of Shanghai (http://schoollibrarysymposium.wikispaces.com/) on November 4-6, 2011. Registration now open!

This year's theme: Make and Take...

Last year’s Symposium was a great success and from the feedback, librarians wanted MORE! So this year we are restructuring based upon the feedback and giving more time to each session, offering workshops more than 1 time. Everyone will have 2 opportunities to attend a workshop as well as attend some open sessions of “Show me how to…”

We have two highly experienced and inspiring Librarians leading the Symposium this time:

Karen Gockley from ISB, Beijing will be leading a workshop on “How to Get Your Next Job: Tips and insights to prepare yourself for getting that next great job!”

Dianne McKenzie from Discovery College, Hong Kong will be looking at “Copyright, copyleft, creative commons, public domain, fair use, attribution, permissions, - do these words confuse you about what is required when students do their work?

Our goal is that you come to the workshop, make something and take it home on Monday ready to use!

The symposium fee (55 Euro) includes attendance of the Symposium on Saturday 5th November, all refreshments, lunch and the Symposium Dinner on the Saturday evening.

There will be an optional dinner and pre-conference session on Friday evening and School Library visits on Sunday morning.

Please visit the Symposium Wiki, http://schoollibrarysymposium.wikispaces.com/ for more information on how to register and make payment.

We look forward to seeing you at the symposium!

Sincerely,

Organising Committee
