Randel McGee -- Storyteller

Dear Friends

I am writing to inform you that the wonderful Randel McGee - storyteller, ventriloquist, puppeteer - and his inimitable companion, the cute dragon Groark (who can sing and play guitar!) are returning to Singapore in November. They'll be doing some work for the National Library from the 15th, but, due to the postponement of the Manila Int'l Storyfest, Randel has the week of 8 - 13 November available. He's asked me to see if anyone is interested in booking him.

I've seen him perform at two Singapore Storyfests as well as at community events here and in Manila last year, and I can promise you that Groark is quality entertainment of the highest order (and with the stories there's often a good value lurking in there somewhere too!)

Your kids will love him, and Randel is a really easy guy to get along with. In Manila he'd learnt his song in Tagalog. Here they sing their signature song, Tell me a Story on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LstxYJnDjHw

As he's flying here courtesy of the NLB, it's an opportunity to get a top performer at a very reasonable price. If you're interested, please email him atrandel@mcgeeproductions.com

I don't know if Randel is bringing Hans Christian Andersen with him. Randel not only dresses as HCA and dons a Danish accent, but as he tells - I saw him do Pincess and the Pea - he papercuts a picture which he reveals with a flourish at the end. This is how HCA performed - he was originally an artist who, in the days before the portrait photographer, cut silhouettes of people. When he became an author, he publicised his books by staging readings, and as he told, he would cut a fantastically detailed paper-cut (the bed with 12 mattresses, a pea, a princess on the top and queen and prince standing by...)
