2007 - Workshop
Heavy Metals in the Environment and the Well-being of Humans and Animals
20 and 21 April, 2007
Unlike organic compounds metals remain in the environment. Humans are exposed to them mainly by consuming contaminated foods.
The Environmental and Health Action Plan (EHAP) for 2004 - 2010 adopted in June 2004 by the European Commission calls for more research into the main sources of human exposure to metals, especially via the uptake of metals by plants on contaminated land.
