After tremendous success last year, FYMA Cup and the TD decided to do something unprecedented for FYMA Cup '16; return to the same place in back to back years. So Mesquite, here we come...again!
...guess we all really wanted to play that one missed course! Well that's enough...its done!
To finalize the house rental, we need to know how many would like to rent for Sunday night. The thought here is that we are in Vegas early enough to drive out to Mesquite to watch AFC/NFC Championship games Sunday night (arrive NLT Noon Vegas time). If at least five of us are willing to show, then its probably worth renting house at $450/night. If less than that, then I am inviting any who would like to go in on a hotel room. Again, I will be arriving Saturday evening. I will just book the house to check in Sunday, 24 JAN and out on Saturday, 30 JAN. Again, the actual tourney dates are Tuesday to Friday (26-29JAN). Pre-tourney warm-up is optional. Contact the TD as he who is interested in a Sunday arrival at the house so he can add a day to our rental agreement.
Last year, renting the Van worked out great and if Chop is willing to do it again, great. However, with my early arrival, I will most likely rent cheapest thing I can find and when I am over Sunday night's fog, drive up to Mesquite for a warm-up tourney round while I wait for the rest of y'all. Anyone planning on joining me, say the word and I can increase vehicle size. This also provides options for any early departures, but with ending on Saturday, hope most willing to book home bound tickets at a reasonable time.
Playing two of the same tracks as last year, but adding in Oasis Palmer (the one they didn’t book last year) and Coyote Springs. Now Coyote Springs is a 45 min drive from Mesquite heading back toward Vegas, but it is a Nicklaus designed course built in 2008. In addition, it is a brand new development with more courses, stores, schools, planned in the future...worth check out for future dates and after the drive to Utah last year, this should be nothing. The course is highly rated (top 5 in Nevada). It will change things up a bit, but if we really don’t want to drive (I will drive to/from course) then I can add Falcon Ridge back in (course house is located on). Rest of courses are within 10 mins of house.
House confirmed at $450 night and with cleaning fee total at $2450. 245/person (may be a bit more with spa heat- will explain later)

**Sunset is around 5pm local, but twilight price dropped significantly at Wolf Creek. Third T-time is at 1130 so as long as we don’t get behind, we should be fine with five hours of daylight.
Departure Travel Day: Saturday 30 JAN
Totals per person:
House: $245
Golf: With tax, under $400- really good for us!
Food/Beverage: $200
Rental vehicles/gas: say $60
If you don’t arrive early for some pre-tourney fun, total is $945 plus your flight and casino time/night out eating. Way under our norm for one of our nicer trips! Having 10 helps.
Duties remain as per last year:
Whitey will help Kinger with beverages- keg always awesome.
Clarkie is on the menus;...tri-tip one night, night out, maybe fish tacos, and a Whitey special
Rivs on wine.
Mudro and Chaser have gear and accessories- another 100 coozies/person would be great.
PK ensures music/poker gear.
G has the books/handicapping.
Chop has Costco or we do in Mesquite (worked good). And TD makes sure all courses booked as advertised! Chop, PK, Whitey still to decide if driving or flying.
I am okay if we just rent a couple vehicles this year and no van. Prefer van for golf transport (awesome), but completely up to Chop. Let us know if you want to get it again and drive brother! If not, think three standard vehicles with my latest search around $150 (tax included) a car should do it and allow all pick up/returns. Sucks for one long drive day to Coyote Springs, but all other courses under 10 mins and would be only an additional $60 or so with gas per person on vehicles. Even with van if couple of you show up early with me in Vegas, I may rent a car and head out Monday to Falcon Ridge.
Weather should be in mid-60s, bit of rain may be possible, but nothing sending us off the courses. So, now you have something to look forward to.... I am expecting A-game from all, not on the course of course, only off the course. Smack talk is encouraged by all and although last year I was pushing The League to fine tune your linguistic art, I am re-watching all of Entourage and Gold will have me ready to dual with the best. This should be a good one as Muddy can concentrate on getting splashed as he will be entering the house with a 30+ handicap (sucks to be prior cup champion). I know Chop will be fine tuning his game, but having just played with Rivs and Clarke in DC, I am thinking Rivs may steal this thing! However, Whitey is an unknown and anything can happen!
IT’S THE F'ng FYMA CUP and that means its YOUR CUP!
See you in Mesquite gents!
