FREE TICK TESTING
February 2016- Typically we do NOT recommend testing ticks for a variety of reasons, one is the cost involved ($400-$600 per tick). The preferred method when bitten by a tick is to get it right and TREAT THE BITE!
However, since this project is not charging for tick testing (it is FREE) and it is designed to help map ticks and diseases they carry across the USA, we ask that you participate. Simple instructions are provided below.
Ticks can be ones that were attached to you, unattached (found crawling on clothing or in a natural settings), or taken off your pets or other animals. To see how to properly remove a tick click here.
The lab states your tick test results should be emailed to you within five days, however, I wouldn't depend on it.
UPDATE May 2016- Lab now says it will take 7-10 business days to get your results and some people are reporting a 2 week wait at this time.

Directions: Put your tick in a small Ziploc baggie with a moist cotton ball or piece of wet paper towel. Include the document (form linked below) with your tick. Put the baggie and the document in a small padded envelope.
