Many Groups like Judaism, Islam, Jehovahs Witness, etc teach Christians violate the Ten Commands by saying Jesus is in the Godhead.
"thou shalt have no other God's before me"
The key is the word "before", do Christians place Jesus above or before the Father? No.
Christians teach Jesus is under the Father positionally. We don't teach classical trinitarianism where Christ and the Father are co-equal positionally. Not in this era anyway. Jesus humbled himself and therefore gave up that equality if it existed. We do know Jesus was equal to God in some way. Phil 2:1-6
1 Corinthians 11:3
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God.
Even though Christians believe Jesus was in God's form before becoming man, and his person was in the Godhead, we still consider the Father before Christ positionally. Christ himself brings this out in many passages.
John 10:29
My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand.
We can give Jesus and the Holy Spirit praise because they by nature deserve it. They are by nature God. Anyone with such a nature can and should be praised, but our worship primarily worships the Father. As Jesus taught the Lord's prayer.
"Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name"
So, Christians don't violate the Ten Commandments since Christ is not before the Father. We don't violate ethics because Jesus is worthy to be worshipped. We still must remember the main goal of Christ was to bring us to the Father. We see in many denominations today the Father is almost forgotten in favor of Jesus. Many modern songs only praise Jesus. This wasn't Christ's intent, the cross was to make a way to the Father.
Jesus can be God just as women are human. Being under the man doesn't take away their human nature. They can be united into one family, they can both be human, while having one the head of the other. Mankind, created in Genesis one, male and female were created in God's image. A united one. Even the Alaha in Aramaic can mean united. The word yachim in Hebrew means united. God is united.
Islam has many problems because they condemn Christians for worshipping Jesus. The wisest men of the east made a trip to worship Jesus. If they were wise and didn't see it as sinful, why should we?
Matthew 2:2
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
They like to make a distinction but in scripture its just a matter of direction. Praise is praise whether to God or man. We do worship Jesus in praise. John 1:1 says Jesus was God and we acknowledge this. Jesus acknowledged in John 17 that John 1:1 is true. That he was with the father in a glorified image. The word glory in Greek means image.
John 17:5
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
With thine own self can mean a glory which is of the Father's likeness. The word seautos is used in this sense. Like Love thy neighbor as "thyself", the feelings and actions toward self are cast onto someone else. In this case the Father's glory is cast onto Christ. This glory it shows he had previously.
Jesus confirmed John 1:1.
