Joining & Expectations
Joining the Obsidian Legion
The joining process has essentially 3 steps. The first step is for a person to be accepted as a recruit. A person seeking to join the Legion could seek out any member of the Obsidian Council or an Obsidian Legion officer. They can help get you started.
If you are having a hard time finding someone in game, you can send an e-mail to the website administrator to try to set up an appointment.
Once accepted as a recruit, one has to prove his/her loyalty to the Tower - this can be either a specific task, or an action when in a situation. This will move you to the rank of Initiate. The last task is to pass the physical trials. Those who wish to join must prove themselves in combat and perform well. Once this task has been completed, those who are accepted will be initiated at an Obsidian Tower meeting.
Non-wartime expectations
As members of the Obsidian Legion, the actions of a Liastha’a must be controlled, as they reflect on the leaders of the army, as well as the Dhe’nar. The legion is not a place to join to use it as a reason to bully others. These actions, if found by the Ta'ach'tha Sha’la, will have repercussions, which will be determined by them at that time, based on the severity and frequency of the occurrences. It is also expected, as soldiers, that a Legionnaire shows his superiors proper respect, even in times of peace. As part of the Legion, soldiers are expected to be prepared. What each soldier may need to be prepared is up to that soldier. A soldier is also expected to keep up to date on who else is a member of the Obsidian Legion, as well as who the officers are. They will need to check in with an officer periodically, to check on any events happening, or new additions or training dates.
Wartime expectations
During a time of war, those Obsidian Legion members who are available are expected to report to the Obsidian Tower, OR the nearest officer of the Obsidian Legion. From there, they will be given orders as to where to go from there. In these times, a Legion member must keep in mind that they serve the Tower, and sometimes this may mean death for the liastha’a, in order to keep alive a member of the Legion or Tower who can better help with the war effort. Each soldier, regardless of ability, has his or her place during a war. For example, a young liastha’a, once he realized he could not kill those he was fighting with, cleared bodies, so the other soldiers could kill without them getting in the way. Though he did not directly affect the outcome of the war, he played his part and helped. This soldier also died in his efforts, and decayed. This is not required by any means, he went above and beyond the call of duty, and sacrificed himself so the others fighting would not have to care for his corpse in the middle of battle.
