The Rite of Naming (Chu'pong)

During the Trial of Ascension, dark dwarves overcome something immensely profound. Something that touches a part of their spirit far from the façade they present to those they deal with every day.

Some dwarves are wracked with visions for weeks after the Trial is complete. Others return to their homes, secure in the knowledge of what has passed, with no doubts of what will come. From his or her Trial, each dwarf chooses a name. Some names they add on to the name they were given at birth. Others replace that name with the name they now see in their mind. Regardless, this is the name by which they are known until they die.

On returning to their homes, a dark dwarf enters a time of seclusion. Often, he fasts for some time. Eventually, he returns to the Khanshael. A great feast and celebration awaits him. During this feast, the dark dwarf announces his new name in a solemn ceremony, overseen by members of the Spirit Borne.
