Role in Dhe'nari Society

Over the millennia, the Khanshael have firmly entrenched themselves as a strong, craft-based sub-society of the Dhe'nar as a whole. Weapons, armor, jewelry, and everyday items are the bread and butter of the Khanshael, and it cements them firmly in a position to produce these things for the Dhe'nar.

The Dhe'nar have produced brilliant masterworks of craft over the thousands of years since their split from the Elven Nations. Their powers of sorcery are unmatched, and have allowed them to create amazing products that merge craft and magic. However, none of these items even approach the brilliance of a talented Khanshael artisan.

As an example, the Khanshael have produced artificial limbs for Dhe'nari and Khanshael warriors that have been severely wounded in battle. These limbs are fully and completely articulated. They have synthetic musculature composed of metals barely understood by the Dhe'nar, but mastered millennia ago by the dark dwarves. With a small bit of enchantment from Dhe'nar wizards, these limbs even have the illusion of a sense of touch, making them as serviceable as the original.

The other forge work the Khanshael produce is much more important to the Dhe'nar, however. The blades the Khanshael produce are among the finest in all the Lands. The weapons and armor that outfit even the smallest Dhe'nar sortie are almost completely produced by the Kin.

This is what makes the Khanshael so valuable to the Dhe'nar. This is why the Dhe'nar elders, ages ago, allowed the Kin the status they now hold. They realized then that the dark dwarves were so valuable that a life of unending slavery would render them completely useless.
