The Obsidian Legion

Overview

The Obsidian Legion is the powerful right hand of the Obsidian Tower. The Obsidian Legion serves as the guardians, enforcers and armed forces of the Obsidian Tower. While the Obsidian Legion has its own command and control structure within it, ultimately it is the Obsidian Council that guides the Legion.

Membership in the Obsidian Legion is not for everyone. It consists of only those who are loyal to the Obsidian Tower and who have proven this loyalty through several tests. It is considered a great honor to be approached with the opportunity to serve within the Legion, however oftentimes the Legions recruiting methods are surprising and harsh. More than one unsuspecting warrior has been dragged from his home and beaten, only then to be cryptically informed that they were to be tested. It is those who show potential to serve and lead within the Legion who are often watched and gauged of their loyalty and assessed for future recruitment.

The Obsidian Legion is home to many former mercenaries and castaways from other armies and societies who might have been considered too fierce or intense for their former lords or masters. All races of humanoid decent are permitted to serve in the Obsidian Legion, so long as they meet the necessary requirements. Humans, elves, giantmen, dwarves, orcs, trolls, and half-breeds of all of these have found a place within the Legion. The exception is Halflings, as they are not welcome in any part of the Obsidian Tower.

The Obsidian Legion is an extension of the Dhe’nar warrior caste. Politics, religion, racial boundaries and social semantics hold no interest for the leaders and members of the Legion. The only things that matter to those of the Legion and its commanders are loyalty, skill in battle, and the ability to carry out the goals of the Legion. Leadership and the ability to follow orders are also two qualities held in great regard within the Legion. All members have the ability to advance within its ranks, with only their own aptitude and skill for their commanders to judge them on.
