Prince, 2005 — In this presentation, M.Prince makes a case for why it is time for a national strategy of disability supports, describes the existing intergovernmental transfers in Canada for disability supports, and then outlines a revised transfer and federal investment plan, as next steps to realize a vision of full inclusion for Canadians with disabilities.

COMMUNITY ACCESS TO SERVICES & SUPPORTS -2007 — Community Access to Services and Supports (Community Access) is one of two mini-projects awarded by the federally funded Massachusetts Community Integration Services & Supports Grant (MASS C-PASS). The mini-projects engaged Medicaid-eligible consumers in an experiment with options of self-direction. MASS C-PASS is an interagency, cross disability collaboration to design consumer-driven personal supports.

Equal Access To Justice For People With Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities: A Framework For Change 2017 — Access to justice is a fundamental human and civil right, however, we know from both historical and more recent media accounts that people with intellectual or other developmental disabilities (I/DD) often experience considerable disadvantages when they become involved in the criminal justice system (CJS), whether as victims or as suspects/defendants.

Non-residential Supports and Intellectual Disability: A Review of the Literature on Best Practices, Alternatives and Economic Impacts -2006 — This report will review the literature on non-residential supports for people with intellectual disabilities, much of which focuses on employment. Personalised support systems and disabled adults: An analysis of the financial barriers to independent living -2007 — Right click on link to download file. The findings suggest that financial barriers hinder the ability of personalised support systems to enable disabled adults to live independently, particularly in relation to rising eligibility criteria, since many disabled adults only receive support if their needs are “substantial” or “critical”. The findings also suggest that the role of social work in relation to funding has a negative impact on social worker-service user relationships.

PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS OF SUPPORT BETWEEN ADULTS: THE CASE OF DISABILITY -2001 — For many adults with disabilities the nature of personal relationships through which needed support is provided defines the extent of their well-being and equality. With this understanding in mind, this paper outlines a conceptual framework for considering legal and social recognition of close personal support relationships involving adults with disabilities.
