A New Vision for Saskatchewan: Changing Lives and Systems through Individualized Funding for People with Intellectual Disabilities A Research Report-2007 — The purpose of this report is to highlight and analyze the existing models of individualized funding (IF) and individually funded services (IFS). IF/IFS models are examples of disability supports designed to help people with disabilities overcome societal and individual barriers or limitations so that they are able to carry out their daily activities and fulfill their daily needs.
Attendant Care Direct Funding Pilot Project: Evaluation Plan (2007) — ACP direct funding is aimed at people with physical disabilities with high personal support needs, who have the capacity to directly manage administration of funding. Individuals in receipt of direct funding are responsible for all legal, financial and accountability requirements as well as potentially taking on employer responsibilities for attendant carers including recruitment, training and support; and financial management including wages, superannuation and insurance.
Beyond Cash and Counseling: An Inventory of Individual Budget-based Community Long Term Care Programs for the Elderly (2006) — This brief describes the evolution of beneficiary-managed home and community-based services since the original demonstration and provides an overview of state activity as of January 2006. The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 gives states the option to use this model for an expanded range of home and community based services in their state Medicaid plans without having to obtain a waiver.

Self-directed disability support Building people’s capacity through peer support and action research 2014 — Disability support in Australia is changing, and people with disability increasingly have more opportunity to decide the details of their support—about how, when and by whom it is provided. In this report, this is called self-directed disability support (SDDS). The one year project was to find out how people with disability experience and manage the transition towards SDDS.
Self-Directed Support: A Review of the Barriers and Facilitators 2011 — This is a report on the published literature on the barriers and facilitators of self- directed support. It was undertaken to inform a research study funded by the Scottish Government 2009-2011 that is evaluating initiatives in three local authorities. These initiatives aim to improve take up of self-directed support for people eligible for social care and other public funds.

The IBSEN project - National evaluation of the Individual Budgets Pilot Projects-2008 — Individual budgets (IBs) were piloted in 13 local authorities across England between 2005 and 2007. In addition to introducing new arrangements for assessment, resource allocation and support planning, the pilots were also tasked with bringing together several different funding funding streams and integrating their respective assessment processes. The pilots were subject to a comprehensive evaluation by the IBSEN (individual budgets evaluation network) team.
