One such challenge that is prevalent is today’s online society is academic dishonesty. Although not a new phenomenon, it seems that many institutions feel the access to vast amounts of resources at the click of a button has resulted in increased instances of academic dishonesty. In this paper, I will explore “the new plagiarism” types that are emerging as a result of technology, what groups engage in the most cheating, the reasons why people are drawn to cheating, and what needs to be done to decrease the amount of academic dishonesty.
