Comp Formats

The following explains the formats of the different competitions we play throughout the year.

Winter Meeting

• • 18 Hole singles for Reg Smith Trophy (Full Handicap stableford)

  • 9 Holes Pairs (greensomes, 1/2 combined stableford).

Spring Meeting

• • 18 Hole singles for John Nicks Memorial Trophy (stableford)

  • 9 Hole medal for Galleon Salver

Autumn Meeting

• • 18 Hole singles for Bellair Cup (stableford) and Scratch Cup

  • 9 Hole (3 Ball) team event for Macklin (CX) trophy

A 'Longest Drive' and 'Nearest Pin' are contested at each of the above meetings, the 'Duffer' trophy is also determined.

Order of Merit Trophy

• • Cumulative competition decided by points scored on the Winter, Spring and Autumn singles competitions, based on Formula 1 Grand Prix scoring system (10 for 1st, 9 for 2nd etc. down to 1 for 10th)

Kelly Cup Matchplay

• • Straight knock-out matchplay played from April-October each year. (The rules for this competition can be found Here)

Matches

South Coast Salver

• • Annual competition against Plymouth and Exeter City Councils in a triangular format - team of 12 required (Early Season)

Three Shires

• • Annual match against 3 Shires Golf Society (Bournemouth based) in a 'Ryder-Cup' format - team of 10 required (Late Season)
