(Held at Launceston Golf Club after the Spring Meeting)
Present ; the majority of those who played during the day
The venues/dates for 2009 were discussed and the following was agreed ;
It is up to us to arrange the South Coast Salver and Wessex Trophy matches in 2009 .
The financial position of the society presently stands at about £142. This balance may be reduced by the payment of deposits for some of next year’s events, though none of the first 3 venues above have made such a request. We hold a ten year stock of Captains ties which were bought back in Feb 2007
Our incoming Society Captain with effect from 1st July is John Barnard - he has chosen Phil Sudworth to be his vice-captain.
We held an extra event at St Mellion in February this year – MD may try to arrange a similar event for November this year, possibly at Trethorne again - members will be circulated with the details.
Following a suggestion from one of our members regarding how teams with only two players are scored in the CX (Macklin) Trophy at the Autumn meeting , it was discussed and agreed that the status quo be maintained in the absence of any better suggestion i.e. that the scores of any team with only 2 players be multiplied by 1.5 in order to give them a realistic chance of still winning the competition.
Richard Stevens asked about the dress code at society events i.e. was it necessary to wear a collar and tie? Golf clubs in general seem more relaxed about such matters these days and so there is no firm rule, but those wishing to dress in collar and tie are of course quite free to do so, while it is expected that others will maintain a reasonably smart casual look. In other words it’s up to you!
If a club has a particular dress code this will be communicated to members well in advance of a visit.
